A traditional tale is a story that has been told and retold for many years and have been passed down for generations, most were at one point told orally,but have since been written down and reimagined. Not all our stories are historically correct or even true. Truth is less important than provisioning cultural cohesion or promoting human values.
Traditional tales for Foundation Phase and early years like Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs or Goldilocks usually follow a typical structure and contain recognisable features such as animal characters, countryside settings and a simple moral message. For our youngest visitors we have a bank of traditional tales and here we start to look at the most basic of human values like kindness, cooperation, honesty…..
